HUNTSVILLE, AL — SportsMED is proud to announce that Kaitlyn Gagat, MD, a fellowship-trained pain medicine specialist and board-eligible anesthesiologist, will officially join the practice on August 18, 2025. A Huntsville native, Dr. Gagat brings advanced training in interventional pain management and a lifelong commitment to patient-centered care to the North Alabama community.
Dr. Gagat will be seeing patients at both SportsMED’s Huntsville and Madison locations, providing comprehensive pain management services to help individuals find relief and return to active, fulfilling lives.
She returns to her hometown after completing her Pain Medicine Fellowship and Anesthesiology Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she gained extensive experience in managing complex pain conditions through multidisciplinary and minimally invasive techniques. She earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a degree in Psychology. She is also a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognized for her compassion and excellence in patient care.
Dr. Gagat’s connection to SportsMED runs deep—her father, Dr. Eric Janssen, is a co-founder of the practice and a respected orthopedic sports medicine surgeon, and her sister, Dr. Kristina Donovan, is a physiatrist at the clinic. As a second-generation physician and member of a family devoted to musculoskeletal health, Dr. Gagat is proud to continue the tradition of exceptional care at SportsMED.
