At SportsMED Performance Rehab, we are dedicated exclusively to delivering specialized Sports Physical Therapy for athletes and active individuals. Our focus is simple: help athletes recover correctly, rebuild strength, and safely return to competitive play.
This is not group training or individual performance training. Our program is fully centered on evidence-based sports rehabilitation, led by specialty-trained Sports Medicine Doctors of Physical Therapy who understand the physical and psychological demands of competition.
We continue to offer our comprehensive Return to Sport Program — a structured, objective progression that ensures athletes are physically and functionally ready to get back in the game. Through advanced testing, sport-specific rehabilitation, and measurable benchmarks, we remove guesswork from return-to-play decisions.
Rehab with purpose. Train for return. Compete with confidence.
We go beyond traditional physical therapy. Our approach is designed specifically for athletes who want more than just pain relief — they want to return stronger, safer, and fully prepared.
Our difference lies in:
Rather than relying solely on time-based healing or subjective assessment, we use measurable data to guide every stage of recovery.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to stimulate myofascial trigger points, muscular tissue, and connective tissue to manage neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
According to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), dry needling helps restore impairments in body structure and function, improving activity and participation.
Commonly used for:
Blood Flow Restriction training applies controlled external pressure to an extremity, allowing arterial inflow while partially restricting venous outflow. This enables athletes to gain strength using lighter loads, reducing stress on healing tissues.
Especially effective for:
BFR allows us to safely accelerate strength gains while protecting healing joints and tissues.
A major differentiator at SportsMED Performance Rehab is our use of objective performance data to determine readiness for return to play.
Isokinetic Testing (Cybex Machine)
Isokinetic testing is considered the gold standard for measuring quadriceps and hamstring strength, particularly following knee surgery such as ACL reconstruction.
We use isokinetic testing to:
Passing criteria:
Less than a 10% strength difference between the injured and non-injured limb.
Research continues to support the importance of isokinetic testing in modern sports rehabilitation (Wilk KE, Arrigo CA, Davies GJ. Int J Sports Phys Ther. 2024).
Hop Testing
Hop testing provides functional, sport-specific insight into readiness.
Common tests for post-operative ACL reconstruction include:
Passing criteria:
Less than a 10% difference between injured and non-injured limbs.
These tests assess power, symmetry, stability, and confidence — critical components for safe return to competition.
We incorporate advanced VALD Performance Technology to enhance precision and data-driven care.
Dynamo Hand-Held Dynamometer
Force Plates
Force plates allow us to measure exactly how an athlete loads each limb — not just how it looks visually.
Timing Gates
At SportsMED Performance Rehab, our providers don’t just treat athletes — they have been athletes.
Our team combines elite clinical training with firsthand competitive experience, giving us a unique understanding of what it truly takes to return to sport.

Traditional physical therapy often relies heavily on time-based healing and subjective assessments.
At SportsMED Performance Rehab, we rely on:
Our goal is not simply to discharge athletes when they “feel better.”
Our goal is to ensure they are physically prepared to meet — and exceed — the demands of competition.
Recover Stronger. Return Confident. Compete at Your Best.
