John H. Walker, MD, is a dual board-certified orthopedic surgeon providing high-quality care to patients at SportsMED Orthopedic Surgery & Spine Center’s Athens and Huntsville, Alabama, practice locations. Dr. Walker specializes in the treatment and surgeries of the hand, wrist, and upper extremities.
Dr. Walker earned his doctorate at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, before completing his internal medicine internship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He then moved back to Alabama to complete a general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Alabama. After finishing his residency, Dr. Walker became fellowship-trained in hand surgery at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.
Dr. Walker stays up-to-date with the latest medical advancements and technologies. He is dual board-certified in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also an active member of numerous professional organizations for both orthopedics and hand surgery disciplines.
