About Dr. Alexander
H. Cobb Alexander, MD, provides comprehensive orthopedic surgical care at the Huntsville and Madison, Alabama, offices of SportsMED Orthopedic Surgery & Spine Center. Dr. Alexander specializes in the latest techniques for joint replacement surgery and has a passion for sports medicine.
Dr. Alexander received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee, and went on to finish his orthopedic residency at Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. For his combined fellowship in joint replacement surgery and sports medicine, Dr. Alexander first trained at New England Baptist Hospital and later at Children’s Hospital, both in Boston, Massachusetts.
In addition to total joint replacement surgery, Dr. Alexander is highly skilled in knee, shoulder, and hip arthroscopy, joint revision, and general orthopedic surgery. He also has extensive experience in surgical repair of sports-related and overuse injuries, including ACL tears, meniscus tears, and rotator cuff tears.
Dr. Alexander is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a founding physician of the Joint Center at Huntsville Hospital East in Huntsville, Alabama.
