Brief Bio

About Dr. Reto

Javier Reto, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon who brings experienced care to patients at the Huntsville, Alabama location of SportsMED Orthopedic Surgery & Spine Center. Dr. Reto specializes in spine deformity, degenerative spine surgery, adult and adolescent scoliosis, artificial disk replacement, and failed back surgeries.

Dr. Reto completed his undergraduate degree with a double major at the University of Chicago. He stayed in Illinois to earn his doctorate at the University of Illinois, Chicago College of Medicine, where he also completed his orthopedic residency from 2004 to 2009. After his residency, Dr. Reto fulfilled a yearlong spine fellowship program at the Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Reto stays up-to-date on the latest spine treatments and surgical techniques. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition to his clinical work, he is active on the staff at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
